Jammu and Kashmir Government Reveals Over 77,000 Vacant Posts Across Various Departments
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has disclosed that there are more than seventy-seven thousand vacant positions within different departments in the Union Territory. These vacancies encompass both direct and promotion quota posts, as stated in a session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on February 11.
Responding to an inquiry raised by MLA Mr. Irfan Hafiz Lone regarding the department-wise vacancies and the strategies in place to expedite the filling process, the Minister In-Charge assured that the vacancies mentioned include direct quota posts already forwarded to recruiting agencies, along with posts currently open for selection.
Efforts are underway to ensure that all advertised and referred posts are filled within a specified timeframe. The total number of vacancies amounts to 77,099 posts, comprising 3,808 Gazetted, 24,507 Non-Gazetted, and 12,351 MTS posts under the Direct Quota category.
Additionally, there are 6,409 Gazetted, 24,451 Non-Gazetted, and 5,573 MTS posts falling under the Promotion Quota, according to official records.
In order to expedite the recruitment process, the government has implemented various measures, including the identification and referral of posts to recruiting agencies, compliance with statutory regulations, meticulous planning of recruitment cycles, and consistent monitoring throughout different stages.
Furthermore, the government is streamlining procedures, enhancing collaboration with recruiting agencies, and leveraging technology to facilitate recruitment procedures while upholding transparency and meritocracy.
Recruiting agencies have released examination schedules for the year 2026, which are being strictly adhered to, ensuring a structured and efficient recruitment process.
