Pakistan Police Arrest Suspects Linked to Suicide Attack at Shia Mosque in Islamabad
On February 7, Pakistan’s police made a significant breakthrough by apprehending two men and a woman in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Peshawar in connection to a devastating suicide attack at a Shia mosque in Islamabad. The attack, which took place at the Khadijah al-Kubra mosque-cum-imambargah in the Tarlai area, resulted in the tragic loss of 31 lives and left 169 individuals injured.
During a late-night operation, authorities managed to detain two brothers of the alleged suicide bomber along with a female suspect. The interrogation process is currently underway to gather crucial information related to the attack.
Through investigative efforts, it was determined that the attacker, identified as Yasir, had his permanent address in Abbas Colony, Shiro Jangi, Charsadda Road, Peshawar, with a temporary residence in Ganj Mohalla Qaziyan, Peshawar.
Authorities uncovered that prior to carrying out the suicide bombing in Islamabad, the perpetrator had spent approximately five months in Afghanistan, where he reportedly underwent formal training in handling weapons and executing suicide attacks.
In light of this revelation, investigative agencies have intensified their efforts to identify and dismantle the network responsible for orchestrating the attack. Additional raids are being conducted in Peshawar and Nowshera to identify any potential facilitators and associates linked to the assailant.
The investigation into the Islamabad suicide bombing is being conducted comprehensively, with a focus on uncovering all aspects of the terrorist incident. It is expected that further evidence will surface, shedding more light on the full extent of the attack.
