Government has No Plans to Create New Administrative Units in Jammu & Kashmir: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah
In a recent statement, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of Jammu & Kashmir has confirmed that the government has no intentions of creating new administrative units in the Union Territory. This decision was reiterated during a session in the Legislative Assembly, where Chief Minister Abdullah, who also serves as the Minister in charge of Revenue, addressed concerns regarding the existing administrative units.
According to Chief Minister Abdullah, the focus is on operationalizing the already established units and ensuring they are adequately staffed. He emphasized the importance of proper facilities and offices for these units to function effectively. Addressing complaints from MLAs about the lack of resources in certain administrative units, Chief Minister Abdullah highlighted the need for a systematic approach to ensure their functionality.
While acknowledging that some units are not fully operationalized, Chief Minister Abdullah emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing these issues. He stated, “Our first responsibility is to make them fully operational. Thereafter, wherever gaps exist or new administrative units need to be opened, that will be considered.”
It is essential to prioritize the efficient functioning of existing administrative units before considering the establishment of new ones. Chief Minister Abdullah’s remarks underscore the government’s strategy to enhance the operational capabilities of these units and provide necessary resources for their effective functioning.
