Modi Urges Students to Embrace Culture-rooted Gaming

New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of gaming as a skill rather than just a hobby during his interaction with school students at the annual ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’. He encouraged students to explore the development of games that are deeply rooted in Indian culture, particularly focusing on storytelling.
Modi highlighted that gaming, when pursued with focus, balance, and ethical values, can be a meaningful skill and even a potential career path. He advised students to steer clear of games involving online betting, emphasizing the need for quality gaming experiences.
According to the Prime Minister, gaming contributes to self-development and he urged students to concentrate on honing their expertise in high-quality gaming while also maintaining a balance with their academic studies.
While cautioning against gambling in gaming, Modi reassured students that laws have been put in place to prevent such practices. He urged students not to waste time on activities like online betting, stressing the need for responsible gaming.
Addressing a student’s query about pursuing a career in gaming despite societal pressure to prioritize studies, the Prime Minister shared that initial discouragement from parents is common, but success in the field can lead to celebration and pride from family members.
Modi encouraged students to channel their interest in gaming by creating games based on India’s rich mythological stories, such as the Panchatantra, and sharing them on social media platforms for recognition and appreciation.
He suggested, “You should consider creating your own game based on Indian folklore. Imagine developing a game centered around the Panchatantra stories. By becoming a game creator and sharing your creations on social media, you can attract a following.”
The Prime Minister further inspired students to explore game development opportunities based on Indian narratives, such as the tales of Lord Hanuman or Abhimanyu’s valor, showcasing the vast storytelling potential rooted in Indian heritage.
