Srinagar, Feb 06: Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi Discusses Union Budget 2026–27 at Dak Bungalow, Kulgam
Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board and senior BJP leader, held a media interaction session at the Dak Bungalow in Kulgam to shed light on the key points of the Union Budget 2026–27.
During the press conference, Dr Andrabi lauded the Union Budget’s focus on promoting grassroots economic stability, infrastructure-led growth, and industrial capacity building under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She emphasized that the budget is not just a short-term plan but a forward-looking document that lays a strong foundation for India’s journey towards self-reliance.
According to Dr Andrabi, the Union Budget serves as a guarantee for Viksit Bharat, emphasizing the importance of strengthening domestic manufacturing, ensuring energy security, and reducing import dependence. The budget also prioritizes inclusive measures to support employment, agriculture, household purchasing power, and universal services.
Highlighting the ambitious economic targets set by the budget, Dr Andrabi mentioned that it aims for an economic growth rate of over 7 percent, surpassing other major global economies.
Dr Andrabi also discussed the increased allocation for Jammu & Kashmir in the budget, with an additional Rs 2,000 crore earmarked for the Union Territory this year. She highlighted the Central Government’s commitment to accelerating development and economic growth in Jammu & Kashmir with a total allocation of Rs 43,290 crore.
Furthermore, Dr Andrabi shared insights on key initiatives such as the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme and the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, which are poised to bolster India’s technological prowess and establish the country as a semiconductor power globally.
The budget’s emphasis on fast-track railway infrastructure, highways, and waterways is set to revolutionize India’s connectivity network, while reforms in rural agriculture, healthcare, and education are expected to yield long-term positive outcomes. Additionally, initiatives to strengthen textiles, handicrafts, and rural livelihoods are aimed at tapping into diverse global markets.
In conclusion, Dr Andrabi emphasized that the spirit of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat resonates across every sector of development outlined in the Union Budget 2026–27.
