Anantnag District Legal Services Authority Promotes Mediation Awareness
The District Legal Services Authority in Anantnag recently conducted a special awareness program focused on mediation under the theme “Mediation for the Nation 2.0”. The event, held at the District Court Complex in Anantnag, aimed to raise awareness about mediation as an effective method of resolving disputes.
The Principal District And Sessions Judge, Tahir Khurshid Raina, who also serves as the Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority in Anantnag, along with other Judicial Officers at the District Court, emphasized the importance of mediation. They highlighted that mediation can significantly contribute to the timely disposal of cases due to its flexible nature.
Trained mediators were urged to put their best efforts into making the mediation process more effective in resolving cases. Judicial officers in Anantnag were instructed to identify and refer a maximum number of cases for mediation, actively participating and coordinating to ensure the success of this initiative.
According to the Ld. Principal District Judge, the 90-day Mediation Drive signifies justice at the doorstep. Mediation not only saves time and resources but also helps in preserving relationships. He encouraged lawyers, litigants, and the general public to embrace this initiative and take advantage of its benefits.
The program also shed light on how disputes, particularly in matrimonial matters, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases, and recovery suits, can be effectively resolved through mediation. Staff members and legal aid functionaries were directed to actively support litigants in the mediation process.
The event saw participation from all judicial officers, legal aid defense counsels, learned advocates, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), and members of the general public.
