The Reality of Kashmir: A Perspective on Pakistan’s Theatrics
As the world watches the ongoing conflict in Kashmir, it is evident that the true desires and aspirations of the Kashmiri people are often overshadowed by the political agendas of foreign actors. The annual observances of February 5, orchestrated by Pakistan, serve as a stark reminder of this manipulation of narratives for political gains.
Having delved into the realm of social media and podcasts, I, as an activist, have gained valuable insights into the geopolitical landscape, particularly in relation to Kashmir. Through extensive research and firsthand experiences, it becomes apparent that Kashmiris are inherently peace-loving individuals who have been used as pawns by Pakistan to further their own agenda.
Over the years, Pakistan has attempted to keep the so-called Kashmir issue alive through various theatrical observances such as Self-Determination Day and Kashmir Solidarity Day. However, the reality on the ground paints a different picture. Ordinary Kashmiris have suffered through decades of disruption, violence, and loss, with Pakistan-backed militant groups being responsible for countless deaths and atrocities.
Since 2019, there has been a noticeable shift in Kashmir, with a significant decline in terror incidents and a resurgence of economic activities and educational institutions. Ordinary Kashmiris are now focused on stability, peace, and development, rather than the slogans propagated by Pakistan.
The disconnect between Pakistan’s rhetoric and the actual experiences of Kashmiris is glaring. The people of Kashmir have vivid memories of the terror and disruption caused by Pakistan-backed terrorism, which has led to a growing sense of resentment towards Pakistan.
Despite Pakistan’s claims of solidarity with Kashmiris, the reality in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan tells a different story. Residents in these territories continue to face political disenfranchisement and suppression of dissent, highlighting the hypocrisy of Pakistan’s stance.
It is clear that Kashmiris are focused on reclaiming peace and building a future on their own terms. Pakistan’s performative observances on February 5 hold no relevance to the progress being made in the Valley, and only serve to further manipulate the narrative for political gains.
In conclusion, Kashmiris have sent a clear message to Pakistan through their actions and words. It is time for Pakistan to respect the agency and resilience of ordinary Kashmiris and allow them to live in peace and prosperity without external interference.
