1.78 Crore Tourists Visit J&K in 2025 Despite Challenges: LG Manoj Sinha
Jammu- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha revealed that despite facing security incidents and natural calamities, Jammu and Kashmir welcomed a staggering 1.78 crore tourists in the year 2025.
Addressing the Legislative Assembly on the first day of the Budget session, Sinha emphasized the significant role tourism plays in the UT’s economy, even in the face of challenges like the Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor, and recent floods.
Sinha highlighted the industry status accorded to tourism to attract investments and create employment opportunities. He mentioned the inauguration of the first-ever Chrysanthemum Garden, Bagh-e-Gul-e Dawood, in October 2025, aimed at positioning Kashmir as a year-round tourist destination.
With over 50 vibrant varieties, the garden is strategically pivotal in transforming Kashmir into a year-round attraction, complementing the famous tulip garden in spring. Sinha expressed confidence that Bagh-e-Gul-e Dawood will become an iconic autumn destination, drawing tourists during off-peak seasons.
The government, under Sinha’s leadership, has implemented confidence-building measures, enhanced tourist services, and fostered better collaboration with stakeholders to boost the tourism sector. Special emphasis has been placed on reviving pilgrim tourism in Jammu, promoting adventure tourism in Kashmir, and developing eco-tourism in tribal and border areas for balanced regional growth.
Sinha announced plans for a significant project focusing on sustainable development in emerging tourist spots through both public and private investments, with the aim of expanding tourism opportunities across the Union Territory.
