Firefighters Injured Battling Blaze at Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Qazigund
On February 3, in Qazigund, two brave personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) department sustained injuries while courageously battling a fire incident at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The officials stated that the blaze quickly spread through the building before it could be contained.
An official reported that a prompt response was initiated by F&ES personnel, supported by the police and local residents, to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby structures.
During the operation, two dedicated firefighters from the F&ES unit in Qazigund, identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Wani and Waseem Mehraj Shah, sustained injuries. They were expeditiously taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment, and their condition is reported to be stable.
Fire tenders were swiftly deployed after the incident, successfully bringing the blaze under control and preventing further damage. The seamless coordination between the F&ES unit, police, and locals played a crucial role in containing the fire.
