Analysis of J&K Government’s Address by Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma
On February 2, Leader of Opposition in J&K Legislature, Sunil Sharma, expressed his disappointment with the “document of J&K government” presented by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Sharma mentioned that the document failed to meet the expectations of any segment of the society.
During a media interaction outside the J&K Legislature, Sharma highlighted his concerns regarding the address delivered by the Lieutenant Governor on the first day of the J&K budget session.
The customary address usually serves as a report card of the government’s performance, showcasing its accomplishments and outlining its future plans.
Sharma acknowledged the positive remarks in the address that praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government’s initiatives. However, he criticized the lack of a clear vision or roadmap in addressing crucial issues such as unemployment, which had raised hopes among the youth. He also noted that the document primarily focused on central government schemes.
One particular point of contention for Sharma was the discrepancy in the Chief Minister’s promise of providing free electricity, which seemed to be tied to a central government scheme. This discrepancy raised doubts about the government’s commitment to its stated goals.
Addressing the issue of establishing a National Law University in Jammu, Sharma mentioned that the BJP advocated for the establishment of two NLUs in J&K, one each for Jammu and Kashmir. He assured that this demand would be raised in the legislative assembly.
Overall, Sharma’s analysis of the government’s address highlighted concerns about the lack of a comprehensive strategy to address pressing issues and fulfill promises made to the people of J&K.
