The Inaugural Mini Marathon 1.0 – A Triumph of Youth Spirit and Fitness

Enthusiasm and sportsmanship were on full display as the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS) organized the first Mini Marathon 1.0 – Run with the Rising Sun at the University of Jammu. Athletes from all corners of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir came together to participate in this thrilling event.
Leading the event, Anuradha Gupta, Director General of Youth Services & Sports, delivered a warm welcome address, highlighting the event’s theme of fitness, discipline, and positive youth engagement. She commended all participants for embracing an active and healthy lifestyle.
The Mini Marathon featured three competitive categories – 3 KM, 5 KM, and 10 KM, showcasing the scenic routes of the historic ‘City of Temples’ and culminating at the Jammu University finish line. Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, kickstarted the event with inspiring words, boosting the morale of the athletes.
The event drew a remarkable 1000 male and female athletes from Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring the region’s growing sports culture. It fostered a sense of unity, sportsmanship, and community fitness.
Participants were recognized for their efforts with commemorative participation medals, while top performers in each category received special medals of honor. Minister Satish Sharma personally awarded medals to the category winners, acknowledging their outstanding performances.
The event’s seamless execution was ensured under the vigilant supervision of Dr. Ajay Sharma, SP South, who oversaw all security and logistical arrangements. Social media influencers added to the energetic atmosphere, motivating the participants throughout the marathon.
To ensure the well-being of all attendees, the Directorate provided refreshments and a hygienic breakfast post-event, underscoring their commitment to holistic care.
Mini Marathon 1.0 marked a significant milestone in the Directorate’s mission to promote mass participation, fitness, and discipline through sports. Anuradha Gupta’s exemplary leadership was instrumental in the event’s success, as she personally oversaw all aspects of the marathon.
In the competitive races, Anjali Devi, Sumit Singh, Darshan Lal, Puran Chand, Vijay Sumbaria, Rohit Singh, Pooja Dano, Anishka Sharma, Rupanshi Sharma, Sourabh Sharma, Mohit Sharma, Janvi Parihar, Gori Devi, and Hitanshi Yadav emerged as the top performers in their respective categories.
The Directorate of Youth Services & Sports extends its appreciation to all participants, officials, security personnel, and supporters for making Mini Marathon 1.0 a grand success, heralding a new era of sports in the Union Territory.
