Addressing Public Welfare and Safety in Kashmir: A Call for Action
As the anticipation for the forthcoming budget grows, National Conference MLA and Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq has emphasized the importance of addressing pressing issues facing the people of Kashmir. Highlighting public welfare, safety of Kashmiris outside the Union Territory, and the need for democratic representation, Sadiq has called for the budget to truly reflect the aspirations and long-pending demands of the people.
Speaking to the media, Tanvir Sadiq underscored that budgets should not be seen simply as financial documents but as a reflection of the government’s commitment to its citizens. He reiterated the government’s stance on prioritizing public interest under the leadership of Omar Abdullah.
With many public demands still unresolved, Sadiq expressed hope that the upcoming budget would carefully consider these issues after thorough review. He stressed the importance of translating commitments into concrete policy decisions to bring relief and development to the grassroots level.
Expressing concern over the targeted attacks on Kashmiris in other states, Tanvir Sadiq condemned such acts as unacceptable and called for strict action to be taken. He commended Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s timely intervention in a recent incident in Uttarakhand, which led to the immediate arrest of the accused. Sadiq urged for exemplary punishment to deter future occurrences.
Furthermore, Sadiq denounced attempts to tarnish the image of Kashmiris on social media for personal gain, emphasizing that individuals from J&K travel outside primarily for livelihood and education. He reiterated the Kashmiri stance against violence and terrorism, highlighting the constitutional responsibility of all states to ensure their safety.
Turning to the issue of Doda MLA Mehraj Malik’s continued detention, Tanvir Sadiq lamented that it was depriving the people of their elected voice. He called for Malik’s release during the ongoing Assembly session to enable him to effectively represent the concerns of his constituency.
Emphasizing the importance of safeguarding democratic rights, public welfare, and the dignity of citizens, Tanvir Sadiq underscored that these should remain the top priorities for any responsible government.
