Jammu Government Announces 15% Syllabus Relaxation for Class 10th, 11th, and 12th Students
In a recent announcement, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided to provide a 15% syllabus relaxation for students in class 10th, 11th, and 12th in the summer zone. This relaxation will apply to the annual regular exams of Jammu Division. The decision was made in light of the disruptions caused by long spells of inclement weather and a war-like situation experienced last year.
Education Minister Sakeena Itoo stated that the department took into consideration feedback from students, parents, and other stakeholders before arriving at this decision. The floods in August significantly impacted the normal functioning of schools, leading to difficulties in completing the syllabus.
The Minister emphasized that this step is crucial to maintaining educational balance and ensuring that summer zone students are not placed at a disadvantage. The government’s commitment to upgrading infrastructure and improving the academic environment in public institutions was also highlighted.
Recent results from the 10th and 12th class exams in Kashmir and winter zone areas of Jammu have shown a marked improvement in the academic ecosystem of government schools. The government’s focus is on creating an enabling environment for students to pursue their academic aspirations and transform government schools into centers of academic excellence.
The long-term goal is to establish Jammu and Kashmir as a knowledge economy and equip students with modern knowledge and vocational skills. This transformation will involve enhancing the teaching skills of teachers and improving infrastructure levels.
Education Minister Sakeena Itoo extended her best wishes to students for the upcoming annual exams, which are scheduled to begin on Feb 17 for class 10, Feb 23 for class 12, and Feb 28 for class 11.
