BJP General Secretary Criticizes CM Omar Abdullah for Disconnect During Snowfall Crisis
Bandipora, Jan 29: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Ashok Koul lambasted Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing the NC-led government of being out of touch with ground realities amidst a severe snowfall in Kashmir.
Addressing reporters at a BJP workers’ convention in Bandipora, Koul alleged that while various parts of the Valley were struggling with blocked roads, power outages, and disrupted essential services, the Chief Minister was reportedly skiing in Gulmarg instead of overseeing relief and restoration efforts.
He emphasized the importance of elected representatives being present on the ground during times of crisis, highlighting the need for leadership to take responsibility and swift action to alleviate hardships faced by the people.
Koul also criticized previous mainstream political administrations for driving young individuals towards violence, resulting in adverse consequences for the general populace. He noted the positive changes in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years, with peace prevailing and fear diminishing in daily life.
Reflecting on the tragic incident of the killing of BJP leader Waseem Bari and his family members in 2020, Koul attributed it to a flawed system of governance in the past. He further called out legislators from Bandipora, Sonawari, and Gurez for allegedly neglecting their constituencies during harsh winter conditions.
Expressing disappointment with the recent budget, the BJP leader remarked that it lacked provisions for alleviating the struggles of ordinary citizens. He reiterated the importance of public leaders prioritizing the hardships of the people over personal engagements. [KNT]
