On January 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his sorrow at the tragic passing of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash. He lauded Pawar’s significant contributions to the development of Maharashtra and India, particularly in the upliftment of rural communities.
Speaking at the PM National Cadet Corps (NCC) Rally in Delhi Cantonment, Modi mourned the loss of Ajit Pawar and a few others who perished in the unfortunate accident earlier that day in Pune district.
Modi, while addressing the gathering predominantly comprising NCC cadets, expressed his condolences for the demise of the 66-year-old Pawar. He acknowledged Pawar’s instrumental role in the progress of Maharashtra and India, especially in enhancing the lives of those in rural areas.
Referring to Pawar as ‘Ajit dada,’ Modi highlighted his impactful contributions and extended his sympathies to the bereaved family members. The Prime Minister reiterated his support for the families of all the victims of the tragic plane crash.
Ajit Pawar, a prominent leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), along with four others, lost their lives in the unfortunate incident. The plane crash occurred as Pawar was en route from Mumbai to Baramati to participate in public meetings as part of the NCP’s campaign for the upcoming zilla parishad elections on February 5.
Earlier in the day, Modi took to X to pay tribute to Ajit Pawar, acknowledging him as a leader deeply connected to the grassroots level. He praised Pawar’s dedication to serving the people of Maharashtra and his commitment to empowering the marginalized sections of society. Modi expressed shock and sadness at Pawar’s untimely demise, offering his condolences to the grieving family and numerous supporters.
