Tragic Accident Claims Four Lives on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway
A devastating accident on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway near Jakhani Chowk in Udhampur district has left four individuals dead, including a CRPF soldier, and one woman injured. The incident, which occurred around 11 am, involved a passenger bus, a stationary off-road vehicle, and a motorcycle.
According to reports, the bus collided with the off-road vehicle, which was parked on the roadside for repairs at the time. The impact resulted in the tragic deaths of the off-road vehicle’s driver and mechanic. Additionally, two passengers were flung into a deep gorge near a bridge due to the collision, one of whom was identified as Mukesh Prajapati, a soldier of the 52 Bn CRPF who was off-duty at the time.
Despite rescue efforts by CRPF and police personnel, the victims could not be saved. The bodies were recovered from the gorge and transferred to the mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital, Udhampur, for further procedures.
The deceased individuals were identified as Sanjeev Kumar, Rayees Ahmed, Mukesh Prajapati, and Rattan Lal. The injured woman, Bamlesha Devi, was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have expressed their condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims. Both officials have extended their prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured and strength to the affected families during this difficult time.
