Successful Rescue Operation by BRO in Snowbound Area of Jammu and Kashmir
Amidst treacherous snowbound conditions in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) showcased exceptional valor by rescuing 60 individuals, including 40 soldiers of a Rashtriya Rifles unit. The daring operation took place at the Chatergala Pass, nestled at an altitude of 10,500 ft in the Bhaderwah-Chatergala axis.
The 118 Road Construction Company (RCC) of 35 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) embarked on the challenging mission on January 24, following heavy snowfall that blanketed the region under five to six feet of snow. Despite the adversities, the BRO successfully cleared approximately 38 km of road, enabling the safe evacuation of stranded civilians and military personnel by January 25 evening.
The seamless coordination between the BRO and the Army ensured the swift restoration of vital communication links, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to serving the nation. The operation culminated with zero casualties, reflecting the exemplary professionalism of the BRO personnel working tirelessly in extreme weather conditions.
Restoration of Strategic Roads in Rajouri District
In a parallel endeavor, the BRO undertook the Herculean task of restoring connectivity in the Kandi-Kotranka region of Rajouri district post heavy snowfall. The intense snow cover, measuring up to three feet, had severely disrupted civilian and military movement, jeopardizing essential services in the area.
Undeterred by the challenges, the 110 RCC of 31 BRTF swiftly initiated snow clearance operations, utilizing specialized equipment and manpower to clear a 35 km stretch within 24 hours. The concerted efforts of the BRO personnel ensured the resumption of traffic flow, facilitating the movement of emergency services and essential supplies.
