Republic Day Celebrations in Kashmir Valley
The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour across Kashmir valley, with a series of functions held at district level to commemorate the day. Unfurling of the National Flag was held amid impressive Parades and mega cultural events at all venues of functions organised at district, sub-division, tehsil, and block levels across Kashmir.
Srinagar
The 77th Republic Day celebrations in Srinagar kicked off with great pomp and enthusiasm at Bakshi Stadium. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary unfurled the National Flag and took the ceremonial salute. The event featured a coordinated parade showcasing the region’s rich cultural heritage and developmental milestones, with contingents from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces, NCC cadets, and school children participating. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, several Legislators, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, IGP Kashmir, and other dignitaries were also present.
Budgam
The 77th Republic Day functions in Budgam were held with much fanfare and enthusiasm. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat unfurled the National Flag at Sports Stadium Budgam and paid tribute to freedom fighters. The event included a march-past by contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Home Guard, and school children, along with cultural programs and a prize distribution ceremony.
Bandipora
Bandipora district celebrated the 77th Republic Day with mass public participation at S.K. Stadium. Chairperson of District Development Council Abdul Gani Bhat unfurled the National Tricolour and inspected the ceremonial parade, which included contingents from various security forces and school students. The event was enlivened by a performance by the J&K Police Band.
Kulgam
Republic Day in Kulgam was celebrated at the District Police Lines, with Chairperson of DDC Mohammad Afzal Parrey unfurling the National Flag and taking the salute at an impressive March Past. Contingents from CRPF, J&K Police, IRP, and others participated in the parade, attended by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, SSP Kulgam, and other senior officers.
Baramulla
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, unfurled the tricolor at the DC Office Complex. The event was attended by various district officers and officials, with tributes paid to freedom fighters and a focus on India’s independence struggle.
Kupwara
Republic Day celebrations in Kupwara included a main function at District Police Lines, where Chairperson of DDC Irfan Sultan Panditpori unfurled the National Flag and inspected the parade. The event showcased achievements and welfare schemes through tableaus presented by different departments.
Pulwama
At the District Police Lines in Pulwama, DDC Chairperson Syed Abdul Bari Andrabi unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the march-past, highlighting the district’s commitment to national ideals. The event featured contingents from various security forces, cultural performances, and a vibrant celebration of unity in diversity.
Ganderbal
Republic Day in Ganderbal was marked by celebrations at Qamaria Stadium, with DDC Chairperson Nuzhat Ishfaq unfurling the National Flag and taking the salute. The event focused on the themes of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, with a showcase of cultural programs and developmental achievements in the district.
Shopian
DDC Chairperson Bilqees Jan led the Republic Day celebrations at District Police Lines in Shopian, with a parade comprising various security forces and student contingents. The event included vibrant cultural programs and a felicitation ceremony for meritorious individuals.
