Wreath-Laying Ceremony Held for Army Jawans in Doda District
In a solemn tribute to the ten army jawans who tragically lost their lives in an accident in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, a wreath-laying ceremony was conducted. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Air Commodore A. Shridhar, Air Officer Commanding Jammu Air Force Station; Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu zone; and Lt. Gen P K Mishra, GOC White Knight Corps, along with other fellow officers.
The fallen army personnel were identified as Sowar Monu, Sowar Jobanjeet Singh, Sowar Mohit, Daffadar (DFR) Shailendra Singh Bhadoriya, Sepoy Samiran Sing, Sep Pradumna Lohar, Sowar Sudhir Narwal, Naik Hare Ram Kunwar, Sepoy Ajay Lakra, and Sowar Rinkhil Baliyan.
Expressing his deep sorrow over the tragic incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the army personnel in a heartfelt message. He emphasized that their dedicated service to the nation will always be remembered.
The fatal accident occurred when an army vehicle met with a mishap in the Khanni Top area of Bhaderwah, resulting in the loss of lives and injuries to several personnel. The White Knight Corps reported that the vehicle carrying troops for an operation skidded off the road due to challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions.
Despite the challenging circumstances, immediate rescue operations were initiated by the army and local administration teams. The injured soldiers received prompt medical assistance on site and were subsequently airlifted to Udhampur for specialized treatment.
Doda Deputy Commissioner, Harvinder Singh, attributed the tragic accident to the presence of snow on the Bhaderwah-Chamba road. He confirmed that 10 jawans had succumbed to their injuries, while the seriously injured were transported to Command Hospital Udhampur for further medical care.
The entire nation mourns the loss of these brave soldiers and extends heartfelt condolences to their families. The sacrifice and dedication of the army personnel serve as a poignant reminder of their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s security.
