Tribute Paid to Soldiers Who Lost Their Lives in Road Accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir
On January 23, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held in Jammu to honor the memory of 10 soldiers who tragically lost their lives in a road accident along the Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir. The ceremony, led by General Officer Commanding of White Knight Corps Lieutenant General P K Mishra, saw the participation of Army, Indian Air Force (IAF), BSF, CRPF, police, and civil administration officers at the technical airport.
Notable figures such as Inspector General of Police, Jammu zone, Bhim Sen Tuti and Inspector General of CRPF, Jammu, R Gopal Krishna Rao paid their respects by laying wreaths at the tricolour-draped coffins of the soldiers. Additionally, wreaths were laid on behalf of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to honor the fallen heroes.
The soldiers, identified as Monu, Jobanjeet Singh, Mohit, Shailendra Singh Bhadoriya, Samiran Singh, Pradumna Lohar, Sudhir Narwal, Hare Ram Kumar, Ajay Lakra, and Rinkhil Baliyan, hailed from various towns and cities across India. Their mortal remains are being transported to their respective hometowns for their final rites.
The tragic incident occurred when an Army armoured vehicle, carrying troops for an anti-terror operation, met with an accident at the 9,000-foot-high Khanni top along the Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road. The vehicle plunged into a deep gorge, resulting in the loss of 10 soldiers’ lives and injuries to 11 others.
The Army’s Jammu-based White Knight Corps expressed deep sorrow over the incident, attributing it to the challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions that led to the vehicle slipping off the road.
