Sajad Lone Supports BJP’s Demand for Separate Jammu State
Peoples Conference president Sajad Lone has voiced his support for the BJP’s call for a separate Jammu state, expressing his hope for its realization. The MLA from Handwara in the Valley emphasized the significance of this potential separation, referring to it as true liberation despite potential opposition.
Lone’s comments come in response to the demand made by some BJP leaders, including former minister Sham Lal Sharma, for the declaration of Jammu region as a distinct state. He views this as a rare and golden opportunity for Kashmiris and advises against being swayed by empty slogans.
Challenging National Conference president Farooq Abdullah’s stance on the continued unity of Jammu and Kashmir, Lone questions the practicality of maintaining this unity and highlights the repercussions faced by Kashmir’s unemployed youth on a daily basis.
Addressing the disparity in population between India and Kashmir, Lone raises concerns about the disproportionate burden placed on Kashmiris in upholding secular ideals. He points out the hypocrisy in claims of secular unity while Kashmiri individuals face discrimination and violence in other parts of the country.
Despite acknowledging Farooq Abdullah’s stature and personal respect for him, Lone asserts his political opposition to him. He criticizes the reservation policies that he believes disadvantage Kashmiris by redirecting job opportunities to Jammu.
Lone also draws attention to the economic disparities between Jammu and Kashmir, noting the imbalance in development projects that favor Jammu at the expense of the Valley. He advocates for a separation that does not breed animosity, emphasizing the continued brotherhood between the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In conclusion, Lone envisions a future where despite separation, the bonds of brotherhood will endure, likening the relationship between Jammu and Kashmir to that of other states in India. He calls for unity and mutual respect even in the event of division.
