Donald Trump’s Air Force One Returns to Base Due to Electrical Issue
On January 21, US President Donald Trump’s official plane, Air Force One, was forced to turn back to Joint Base Andrews near Washington DC en route to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. The reason cited was a “minor electrical issue” detected onboard.
Shortly after takeoff, the Air Force One crew identified the issue and as a precautionary measure, decided to return the plane to Joint Base Andrews. Reporters onboard the aircraft shared this information.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Trump and his entourage would be boarding a new aircraft to resume their journey to Switzerland.
Trump’s Agenda at the World Economic Forum
President Trump is scheduled to speak at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday. Apart from his address, he is expected to engage with the forum’s leadership, hold meetings with foreign leaders, and participate in a reception with business executives.
Additionally, on Thursday, during the World Economic Forum, Trump will take part in the “Board of Peace Charter announcement” where nations will be invited to sign the charter to support Gaza’s redevelopment under his peace plan.

The World Economic Forum in Davos, which commenced on January 19 and will continue until January 23, is hosting prominent global leaders and business figures. The event serves as a platform for discussions on key economic and political issues.

Trump’s presence at Davos coincides with tensions between the US and European nations, particularly regarding his interest in acquiring Greenland and implementing tariffs until a satisfactory agreement is reached. These disputes have strained relations between the US and its European allies.
