Students in Jammu and Chenab Region Demand Syllabus Relaxation for JKBOSE Exams
In a recent development, students in the summer zones of Jammu and Chenab region have come forward to demand syllabus relaxation for their upcoming JK Board of School Education (BOSE) examination. The students, facing challenges due to war-like situations and unfavorable weather conditions, have highlighted the need for this academic relief.
Expressing their concerns, the students emphasized that the current academic session has been severely impacted, leading to a significant reduction in the number of working days. This has made it extremely challenging for them to cover the entire prescribed syllabus within the available time frame.
As a solution, the students are urging the government to announce a minimum of 15 percent syllabus relaxation to ensure fairness and alleviate the academic pressure on them. They believe that this step would not only help maintain educational balance but also prevent students in the Summer Zone from being unfairly disadvantaged.
Supporting the students’ demand, the Private Schools Association J&K (PSAJK) has also extended its backing for syllabus relaxation in the upcoming examinations in Jammu division. President PSAJK Nazrul Islam Baba reiterated the importance of this academic relief, particularly in Chinab Valley and Poonch, where the learning time has been significantly compromised.
In a statement, Nazrul Islam Baba emphasized the non-negotiable nature of parity in education and stressed that denying syllabus relaxation to Jammu Division students would be discriminatory and academically unethical. He highlighted that students should not be penalized for regional and situational disadvantages beyond their control.
Furthermore, Baba asserted that any deviation from uniform academic relief would only deepen regional disparity and undermine the credibility of the evaluation system. He expressed full support for the legitimate demands raised by the students from Chenab Valley and Poonch and called upon Chairman JKBOSE and Education Minister Sakina Itoo to intervene decisively.
Overall, the collective plea from the students and PSAJK underscores the importance of addressing the challenges faced by students in the Jammu and Chenab region and ensuring a fair and balanced academic environment for all.
