Legal Awareness Programmes Organized in Reasi District
Reasi, Jan 19: The District Legal Services Authority Reasi, in partnership with the Social Welfare Department, conducted a series of legal awareness initiatives throughout the district.
Awareness on Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006
A special awareness program focusing on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 took place at Government Higher Secondary School-Salal. Attendees were educated on the legal implications of child marriage, the key provisions of the Act, and the significance of children’s education, health, and overall development. Information regarding the free legal aid services provided by DLSA Reasi and the role of Legal Services Authorities in protecting the rights of women and children was also shared.
Environmental Conservation Program at Government Middle School-Katra
An awareness program titled “Save the Environment” was organized at Government Middle School-Katra to raise awareness among students about environmental protection, conservation of natural resources, and the shared responsibility of citizens in maintaining ecological balance. The importance of tree plantation, reducing plastic usage, proper waste management, and preserving the natural environment for future generations was emphasized.
Essay Writing Competition on Rights of Children
At Government Higher Secondary School, Katra, an Essay Writing Competition-cum-Awareness Program on “Rights of Children” was conducted with the participation of ten students. The participants highlighted various child rights, such as the right to education, protection from abuse, prevention of child labor and child marriage, and the necessity of a secure and nurturing environment. The objective was to enhance legal awareness among young individuals and motivate them to actively engage in safeguarding children’s rights.
Awareness on Traffic Rules at Bus Stand, Katra
An awareness program on Traffic Rules was carried out at the Bus Stand, Katra, in collaboration with Traffic Police Reasi. District Traffic Inspector Reasi, Navneet Verma, served as the resource person, educating drivers, conductors, and the general public on basic traffic regulations and road safety measures.
Door-to-Door Awareness on Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Government Welfare Schemes
Furthermore, door-to-door awareness programs on Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Government Welfare Schemes were conducted in Ransoo, Mahore, Kunderdhan, and Chassana. These programs aimed to inform marginalized and vulnerable communities about the advantages of mediation as an effective ADR tool, as well as the eligibility criteria and procedures for accessing government welfare schemes.
