New BJP National President Set to Be Nitin Nabin
After emerging as the sole candidate for the top party post, Nitin Nabin is poised to become the BJP national president, as announced by senior BJP leader and returning officer K Laxman on Monday.
With 37 sets of valid nomination papers filed in favor of Nabin, including support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP leaders such as J P Nadda, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and Nitin Gadkari, the stage is set for his election.
The nomination process for the BJP national president concluded on Monday, with all 37 sets of nomination papers for Nabin found to be in order and duly filled out.
Speaking as the national returning officer, Laxman confirmed that only Nabin’s name had been proposed for the post of national president, following the completion of the state presidents’ elections in 30 out of 36 states.
The election process was initiated after the required number of state presidents were elected, and the schedule of events was announced and the electoral roll published on January 16.
Of the 37 sets of nomination papers, 36 were proposed by leaders from different states, each set bearing the signatures of 20 leaders. The remaining set of nomination papers was proposed by members of the BJP Parliamentary Board, including the prime minister and 37 MPs.
