Jammu & Kashmir Youth Shine in Sports, Minister Satish Sharma Highlights Achievements
In a recent conference, Minister Satish Sharma praised the exceptional performance of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth in various sports, attributing their success to the availability of fair opportunities, modern infrastructure, and unwavering government support.
During the SRIJAN initiative conference, Minister Sharma emphasized that the accomplishments of young athletes showcase the potential of UT youth to overcome challenges and excel at national and international levels with the right support system in place.
The SRIJAN program, according to Sharma, focuses on enhancing the sports landscape in the Union Territory by expanding grassroots sports infrastructure, ensuring transparent selection processes, integrating sports with education and skill development, promoting gender equality in sports, and creating sustainable career opportunities in sports.
Sharma reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing international-standard sports facilities, including modern cricket stadiums in Jammu and Srinagar, strengthening Khelo India Centres, promoting traditional sports, and collaborating with the Union Ministry to establish Jammu & Kashmir as a national sports hub.
As the Sports Minister, Sharma assured athletes of the government’s unwavering support in nurturing talent, discipline, and confidence among the youth, encouraging them to pursue their dreams fearlessly.
Expressing optimism for the future, Sharma envisioned a new era where every talented child in Jammu & Kashmir has equal opportunities to succeed globally in sports. He reiterated the government’s commitment to using sports as a tool for youth empowerment, social inclusion, and regional pride.
The conference was attended by Director General of Youth Services and Sports Anuradha Gupta, prominent figures from various fields and states, as well as senior officers from the Youth Services and Sports Department.
