In a significant milestone, the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) has successfully completed the fifth and sixth batches of Management Development Programmes (MDPs) under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme. These MDPs were conducted across 20 districts of the Union Territory, with the support of the Union Ministry for MSME and the Industries and Commerce Department of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
The six-day intensive MDPs took place simultaneously in Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Budgam, Doda, Ganderbal, Jammu, Kishtwar, Kulgam, Kupwara, Kathua, Pulwama, Shopian, Srinagar, Samba, Rajouri, Reasi, Poonch, Ramban, and Udhampur. A total of 474 aspiring and existing entrepreneurs successfully completed the 30-hour structured training programme, which included expert interactions and field exposure visits. Notably, 452 women entrepreneurs participated in the MDPs, showcasing a significant step towards gender inclusivity in the region’s entrepreneurial landscape.
The MDPs were designed to enhance participants’ managerial, financial, and strategic competencies, enabling them to scale up their enterprises, improve competitiveness, and develop sustainable business models. The curriculum, curated by subject matter experts, covered key areas such as business planning, marketing strategies, digital tools utilization, financial literacy, statutory compliance, innovation, and leadership development.
Furthermore, the training included mentorship sessions, case studies, interactive discussions, and hands-on workshops to provide practical business insights. Sector-specific sessions, led by experts from District Industries Centres (DICs) and the Labour and Employment Department, offered domain-specific guidance to the participants. Field visits to successful enterprises were also organized to provide firsthand exposure to operational best practices.
The MDPs were closely monitored by designated Range and Reviewing Officers, who interacted with participants to assess training quality and gather feedback, ensuring effective implementation and impact. The initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the RAMP programme, aiming to strengthen and modernize the MSME ecosystem nationwide.
Overall, the successful conclusion of the MDPs marks a significant milestone in the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, empowering entrepreneurs to drive innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable growth in the region.
