J&K Government Reconstitutes Search Committee for Chairperson JKBOSE and Director SCERT
On January 12, the Jammu and Kashmir government made a significant move by reconstituting a search committee tasked with recommending panels for the appointment of the Chairperson of JKBOSE and Director of SCERT. This decision, as per the General Administration Department (GAD), supersedes the previous Government Order No 163-JK GAD of 2025 dated January 30, 2025.
The newly reconstituted Search Committee, responsible for recommending appointment panels, will be chaired by the Administrative Secretary of the Planning, Development, and Monitoring Department. Other members include Administrative Secretaries from the Agriculture Production Department, GAD, Higher Education Department, and School Education Department. Additionally, the Vice Chancellors of the University of Kashmir and the University of Jammu will also serve as members of this committee.
According to the GAD order, the Search Committee will be serviced by the School Education Department and is expected to submit its recommendations promptly. This marks the second Search Committee formed within a year to suggest candidate panels for the Chairperson of JKBOSE and Director of SCERT.
The post of Chairman JKBOSE has remained vacant since the conclusion of the former chairman’s two-year tenure in 2025. This individual also held the additional responsibility of Director SCERT.
As an interim measure, the government has appointed Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, Secretary JKBOSE, to discharge the duties of Chairman JKBOSE until further notice. This decision was made by the Commissioner Secretary GAD under section 12 of the J&K Board of School Education Act, 1975.
Furthermore, in a separate order, the Director of School Education, Jammu, Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, has been given the additional charge of Director SCERT. This move aims to ensure smooth administrative operations within these crucial educational institutions.
