Jammu Crime Branch Registers Case for Fake High Court Appointment Orders
The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police has taken legal action against an individual accused of deceiving two individuals by providing them with counterfeit appointment letters supposedly from the high court in the area, as confirmed by a senior police official on Sunday.
Mohd Tahir, hailing from Banola in Poonch, has been charged with fraud and forgery, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (Special Crime Wing), Jammu, Sanjay Parihar.
The case was officially filed on Saturday following complaints lodged by the victims, who claimed to have been scammed by the suspect through false promises of employment at the high court in exchange for monetary transactions.
“The accused first encountered the initial complainant during a train journey from Jammu to Roorkee and subsequently established a friendly rapport. Exploiting this newfound relationship, the accused enticed the complainant by guaranteeing a position at the high court,” explained the officer.
He further added, “Under this misleading pretense, the complainant handed over Rs 2 lakh, and in return, the accused presented him with an appointment letter apparently issued by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. However, upon attempting to commence the job, it was discovered that the appointment letter was fraudulent.”
Regarding the second victim, who had known the accused for an extended period, initial funds of Rs 2 lakh were provided under the guise of medical treatment for the suspect’s wife. Subsequently, the accused promised the victim that he could secure a job for his son within the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, resulting in the submission of necessary documents for the purported opportunity.
Upon verification, it was determined that the appointment order presented to the second victim was counterfeit. Following the complaints, a preliminary investigation was conducted, confirming the accusations and prompting the registration of a formal case under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) law.”
