Jammu & Kashmir Crime Branch Registers Case Against Man for Duping with Fake High Court Appointment Orders
The crime branch of Jammu and Kashmir police has taken action against a man for allegedly deceiving two individuals with counterfeit appointment orders supposedly from the high court in Jammu. Senior Superintendent of Police (special crime wing) in Jammu, Sanjay Parihar, disclosed this information on Sunday.
Mohd Tahir, a resident of Banola in Poonch, has been charged with cheating and forgery in this case. According to Parihar, the case was filed on Saturday following complaints from two victims who claimed to have been defrauded by Tahir, who promised them job opportunities in the high court in exchange for money.
One of the victims met Tahir during a train journey from Jammu to Roorkee. Tahir, taking advantage of the acquaintance, convinced the victim of a job offer in the high court, for which the victim paid Rs 2 lakh. Tahir handed over a fake appointment order, purportedly issued by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. However, upon verification, it was found to be counterfeit.
In another instance, Tahir, who had known the second victim for a long time, initially took Rs 2 lakh under the pretext of medical treatment for his wife. Later, he promised to secure a job for the victim’s son in the high court and obtained necessary documents for the same. However, this appointment order was also found to be forged upon verification.
Upon receiving the complaints, a preliminary investigation corroborated the allegations, leading to the formal registration of a case under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
It is imperative for individuals to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any job offers or appointment letters to avoid falling victim to such fraudulent schemes.
