Empowering Youth through Sports: Minister Sakeena Itoo Felicitates Winners of 6th ISKOI India Karate Championship
UDHAMPUR: Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health, and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, embarked on a comprehensive tour of Tehsil Panchari in District Udhampur to honor the champions of the 6th ISKOI India Karate Championship–2025. The medal ceremony, held at Government Higher Secondary School, Panchari, was a momentous occasion attended by Mission Director, POSHAN, Sajad Ahmad Ganai; Director Social Welfare Jammu, Ranjeet Singh; Director Health Services Jammu; Director Colleges; PO Poshan; Assistant Commissioner Revenue; Joint Director School Education Udhampur-Reasi; DDC Member Panchari; various district officers; parents of the medal winners; and a large number of locals.
In her address, Minister Sakeena congratulated the talented young girls, their parents, and the community for their outstanding achievements. She commended their perseverance, discipline, and competitive spirit, emphasizing the pride she felt in the success of girls from remote areas who triumphed over limitations to bring honor to Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister highlighted the significance of sports as a platform for showcasing talent, preparing individuals to overcome life’s challenges. She encouraged active participation in sports for physical fitness, mental well-being, and overall personality development, assuring ongoing government support for sports promotion, especially in rural areas, to ensure equal opportunities for all.
Recognizing the efforts of the International Shito-Ryu Karate Organization of India in fostering a sports culture, Minister Sakeena interacted with players, coaches, and parents, acknowledging the crucial roles played by mentors and families in nurturing young talent. She urged the medalists to continue their training and aspire for greater success at national and international levels.
During the ceremony, Minister Sakeena felicitated 47 medal winners of the championship, presenting them with trophies and prizes. Additionally, she distributed school bags and umbrellas as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.
On a different note, the Minister engaged with DDC Member Panchari, former PRI members, and locals, addressing various issues related to health, education, roads, and other sectors. She assured that plans are in place for the enhancement of medical facilities at PHC Panchari and the improvement of road infrastructure, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing essential services to all citizens.
Minister Sakeena reaffirmed the government’s dedication to strengthening road connectivity, healthcare services, and essential amenities, ensuring the holistic development of the region. She also highlighted the tourism potential of Panchari, promising to harness it for economic growth and overall progress.
