Minister Sakeena Itoo Felicitates Winners of 6th ISKOI India Karate Championship
In a commendable display of sportsmanship and talent, Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health, and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, recently visited the far-flung areas of Tehsil Panchari in District Udhampur to honor the winners of the 6th ISKOI India Karate Championship–2025. The impressive medal ceremony took place at Government Higher Secondary School, Panchari.
Accompanied by Mission Director, POSHAN, Sajad Ahmad Ganai; Director Social Welfare Jammu, Ranjeet Singh; Director Health Services Jammu, Director Colleges, PO Poshan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Joint Director School Education Udhampur -Reasi, DDC Member Panchari, and other district officers, Minister Sakeena congratulated the girl achievers, their parents, and the local community for their outstanding achievements. She commended their dedication, discipline, and fighting spirit, especially noting that many of the medal winners hailed from remote areas, showcasing resilience and excellence.
Minister Sakeena emphasized the importance of sports as a platform for young athletes to shine, develop their skills, and face life’s challenges. She encouraged active participation in sports for physical fitness, mental well-being, and overall personality growth. The Minister assured ongoing government support to promote sports activities, particularly in rural and far-flung regions, ensuring equal opportunities for talented individuals.
Recognizing the efforts of the International Shito-Ryu Karate Organisation of India in fostering a sports culture among youth, Minister Sakeena interacted with players, coaches, and parents during the ceremony. She praised the role of coaches and families in nurturing young talent and motivated the medal winners to aim for greater success at national and international levels.
As a highlight of the event, Minister Sakeena felicitated 47 medal winners of the championship, presenting them with trophies and prizes. Additionally, she distributed school bags and umbrellas under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, showcasing the government’s commitment to education and welfare initiatives.
During her interactions with DDC Member Panchari, former PRI members, and locals, Minister Sakeena addressed various issues and demands concerning health, education, and infrastructure. She assured proactive measures to upgrade medical facilities at PHC Panchari and improve road maintenance, underscoring the government’s dedication to enhancing essential services for all citizens.
Minister Sakeena reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening road connectivity, healthcare infrastructure, and essential facilities under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s leadership. She also highlighted the untapped tourism potential of the Panchari area, promising comprehensive development and economic growth through tourism initiatives.
