Viksit Bharat–GRAMG Act: Revolutionizing Rural Employment Delivery
The Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, has been hailed as a game-changer in rural employment policies, ushering in a new era of progress and development. This paradigm shift was highlighted by the Director of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) during a Media Workshop ‘Vartalap’ in Budgam, where media professionals were briefed on the Act’s provisions, objectives, and implementation framework.
Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, the District Development Commissioner of Budgam, emphasized the crucial role of the media in disseminating information about complex policy reforms to the public. He underscored the need for well-informed reporting to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective implementation of government programs at the grassroots level. The Act aims to transform rural employment policies and requires active media engagement to reach rural households with accurate and timely information.
Director of PIB Srinagar, Shri Qazi Salman, highlighted the positive reforms introduced under the Viksit Bharat–GRAMG framework and emphasized the media’s role in creating awareness and accurate dissemination of information. The workshop included technical sessions on the operational aspects of the Act, with discussions led by Block Development Officers on various scheme features and technological interventions.
Chief Planning Officer of District Budgam, Shri Javaid Ahmad Najar, stressed the importance of media in disseminating news that benefits society at large and facilitates the execution process. The workshop focused on enhanced employment guarantees, asset creation, decentralized planning, and accountability mechanisms, aligning rural employment with the long-term vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The workshop served as a platform for constructive interaction between the district administration and the media, aiming to strengthen coordination, improve information dissemination, and promote informed public discourse on development initiatives. Moderated by Majid Pandit, Media & Communication Officer of PIB Srinagar, the Vartalap Media Workshop aims to build stronger connections between the media and the government for effective communication.
