Interaction with Probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police in Kashmir Zone
Recently, the Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Shri V.K. Birdi, IPS, conducted a fruitful interaction with 29 Probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySsP) from the 2024 batch. These young officers are currently undergoing practical training in various districts of the Kashmir Zone.
The session took place at the Police Control Room Kashmir and was well-attended by senior officers, including the DIG Central Kashmir Range, SSP PCR Kashmir, and other key personnel.
Key Messages from the IGP
Shri V.K. Birdi warmly welcomed the probationers into the police service and commended them on their commitment. He stressed the importance of upholding values such as integrity, fairness, impartiality, accountability, and discipline in every action taken by the police.
The IGP provided valuable insights into the various roles and responsibilities of DySsP, including operations, investigations, law and order maintenance, and administrative supervision. He emphasized the significance of making sound decisions, demonstrating leadership qualities, and continuously learning during the early years of service.
Furthermore, Shri V.K. Birdi underscored the need for conducting professional, thorough, and result-oriented investigations while adhering to procedural requirements, especially in cases involving special laws like the UAPA and NDPS Act.
The officers were advised to enhance their investigative and operational skills, stay updated on criminal laws and procedures, and leverage information technology effectively. Compliance with police rules, standing orders, and meticulous documentation practices, including FIR drafting and case laws, was also highlighted.
Professional conduct, discipline, effective supervision of subordinates, adherence to proper uniform standards, and ethical behavior were emphasized as essential attributes for police officers. The importance of developing interpersonal skills, humility, and moral values, along with consulting relevant resources to enhance competence, was also stressed.
Shri V.K. Birdi emphasized the significance of engaging with the public and encouraged officers to adopt a problem-solving approach, balance compassion with firmness, and use social media responsibly.
