Porters Slip and Fall into Stream in Baramulla
In a tragic incident in Baramulla, two porters working with the Army met with an accident while enroute to Anita Post in Upper Gulmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday, officials have confirmed.
The unfortunate event took place as the porters were making their way towards Anita Post, which had become inaccessible due to heavy snowfall in the region.
Reports suggest that the porters lost their footing and tumbled into a deep gorge while navigating the snow-covered terrain.
The porters have been identified as Layakat Ahmad Deedard, 27, hailing from Masjid Aagan Chandoosa, and Ishfaq Ahmad Khatana, 33, from Pachar Chandoosa, Baramulla.
Despite the challenging weather conditions and ongoing heavy snowfall, rescue operations have been initiated to locate the missing porters.
