Laying the Foundation for Effective Implementation of Labour Codes in Jammu and Kashmir
In a recent development, Labour Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, Charandeep Singh, took the helm in a review meeting to evaluate the progress in implementing the Labour Codes in the Union Territory.
One of the key highlights of the meeting was the emphasis placed on the ongoing Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign. It was underscored that a comprehensive sensitization of all stakeholders is crucial for the successful execution of the Labour Codes on the ground.
Charandeep Singh stressed the importance of active involvement from various parties, including employers, human resource managers, workers, and those in the unorganized sector. Their informed participation is deemed essential for the seamless rollout of the Labour Codes.
The Assistant Labour Commissioners provided insights into the district-level initiatives aimed at spreading awareness about the Labour Codes. They reported conducting a series of workshops, interactive sessions, and meetings with different groups such as employers, industrial units, trade unions, HR professionals, and workers. The focus was on familiarizing them with the key provisions of the Labour Codes, with special attention given to compliance requirements, workers’ welfare measures, and grievance redressal mechanisms.
Furthermore, it was highlighted that targeted sensitization drives for unorganized workers were carried out through field visits, community-level interactions, and collaboration with local stakeholders.
