Chairman and CEC of LAHDC Kargil Meets Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir
Jammu, Jan 06: Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, recently had a productive meeting with the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, in Jammu. The discussions revolved around various issues of mutual interest concerning the people of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting, Dr. Akhoon emphasized the challenges faced by students from Ladakh who are seeking admission in educational institutions in Jammu & Kashmir. He stressed the importance of continued cooperation to ensure the academic future of these students. The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, assured full support and cooperation in addressing these concerns.
Furthermore, the CEC raised issues related to Ladakhi colonies in Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting the need for basic civic amenities and essential facilities for the residents. In response, the Chief Minister expressed a positive outlook and promised to take necessary steps to address these issues.
Meetings with Key Officials
Following the meeting with the Chief Minister, Dr. Akhoon also met with Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq. The discussions centered around various matters concerning public welfare and regional development.
Additionally, the CEC held a meeting with the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Education, Health & Medical Education, Sakina Itoo, to discuss the issue of lecturers’ One Time Exemption (OTE). Minister Itoo responded positively and assured that the matter would be promptly examined.
