First Community Radio Station Established Along the Line of Control in Rajouri
In a significant development, the first community radio station has been set up along the Line of Control in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. Known as “Radio Sangam,” this station is a collaborative effort between the Indian Army, local authorities, and residents of Keri village, located just one kilometer from the LoC.
This initiative aims to enhance information dissemination in border areas, serving as a vital platform to combat misinformation and propaganda from across the border. “Radio Sangam” will play a crucial role in providing authentic information and addressing local issues, thereby bridging the communication gap in the region.
One of the unique features of this community radio station is its strategic location, allowing its broadcasts to reach areas on both sides of the LoC. This expanded reach will further amplify the station’s impact, fostering greater connectivity and dialogue in the border region.
The inauguration of “Radio Sangam” was a momentous occasion, with Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma leading the ceremony. In attendance were members of civil society, local authorities, and residents, all coming together to support this initiative.
During the inauguration, Sharma highlighted the station’s role in promoting social awareness, encouraging public participation, and amplifying local voices. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the bond between the administration and border residents, countering propaganda, and fostering a sense of community unity.
