Anantnag Promotes Export Awareness and E-Commerce Onboarding
In a bid to boost exports and provide digital market access to local producers, the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) recently organized an Export Awareness-cum-E-Commerce Onboarding drive in Anantnag.
Working in collaboration with various key entities including the District Administration Anantnag, the One District One Product (ODOP) team, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), and the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC), the workshop aimed to empower local MSMEs, artisans, self-help groups (SHGs), farmer producer organizations (FPOs), and entrepreneurs.
The primary objective of the programme was to equip participants with practical knowledge on export procedures, government schemes, and the utilization of e-commerce platforms to expand market reach. The event also sought to connect local producers with national and international markets through digital channels while familiarizing them with key Central and UT government initiatives.
The JKTPO Manager highlighted the organization’s role in promoting the ODOP initiative and facilitating the onboarding of local sellers on e-commerce platforms.
Export Potential in Anantnag
The General Manager of the District Industries Centre in Anantnag emphasized the district’s export potential in trout fish, cricket bats, and scented rice (Mushkbudij). Trout fish has been identified as the ODOP product for Anantnag, offering significant scope for exports and value-added derivatives. The district administration is actively collaborating with the government and export institutions to position Anantnag as an export hub under the Districts as Export Hubs initiative.
Rahul Sharma, Branch Manager at ECGC, explained the role of export credit insurance, credit risk coverage, and related services to safeguard shipments and export proceeds. A Business Development Consultant from APEDA provided insights into promoting agricultural exports and explained the registration process and documentation requirements.
Government Schemes and Support
The session also covered the role of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) in providing market intelligence and trade information. Participants were briefed on the procedure for obtaining an Import Export Code (IEC) and key export-related government schemes like MEIS to enhance their understanding of available incentives.
