Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Chairs 3rd Meeting of University Council at Cluster University of Jammu
On December 28, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over the 3rd Meeting of the University Council of the Cluster University of Jammu at Lok Bhavan in Jammu. As the Chancellor of the University, Sinha stressed the importance of higher education institutions focusing on innovation, employability, and entrepreneurship. He emphasized the alignment of academic initiatives with regional and national developmental needs and advised the University to enhance integrated and professional programs to meet the evolving academic and industry requirements.
During the meeting, the University Council, led by the Lieutenant Governor, gave in-principle approval to several significant academic and administrative proposals. These included key reforms in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP)–2020, such as adopting a new undergraduate curriculum framework, introducing new academic programs, and revising course structures to improve flexibility and employability.
Approval was granted for the introduction of new programs like the Four-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), M.A. Education, Masters in Performing Arts, PG Geography, and Cyber Security at the PG level. Additionally, new minor, skill, and value-added courses across constituent colleges were also approved. Student-centric measures, including awarding additional credits for sports and cultural activities, revised credit norms for MOOCs, and inclusive examination and admission policies, were confirmed.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha commended the University’s reform initiatives and underscored the importance of enhancing academic quality, student welfare, and institutional governance. He directed the University to implement the e-office system by the end of June 2026 and to convene University Council meetings every six months.
Sinha called for increased student participation in the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect program and issued directives to promote active engagement of students in the Nasha Mukt Bharat and Nasha Mukt J&K campaigns.
Professor K. S. Chandrasekar, Vice-Chancellor of the Cluster University of Jammu, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the University’s administrative, academic, financial, examination, and evaluation reforms, student enrollment status, and various academic collaborations in research and education.
In attendance at the meeting were Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, Prof. Nilofer Khan; Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University Srinagar, Prof. Mohammad Mobin; Additional Chief Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Shantmanu; Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari; Provost of SGT University, Prof. Madan Mohan Chaturvedi; Registrar of the Cluster University of Jammu, Ankur Mahajan, along with other Council members and senior officials.
