Jammu and Kashmir Police Crackdown on Individuals Displaying Firearms in Public
On December 28, the Jammu and Kashmir Police took swift action based on credible information, collaborating with the 13 BN BSF to apprehend two individuals who were openly carrying a pistol in a public area, causing panic and insecurity among the local population.
According to a police handout, the suspects have been identified as Manzoor Hussain and Suraj, residents of Badhori, Tehsil Bari-Brahamana, Samba. The duo was reportedly seen brandishing a firearm within the jurisdiction of Police Station Satwari, leading to public fear and disorder.
Following a joint operation by Police Station Satwari and 13 BN BSF, the suspects were arrested, and a case was filed under FIR No. 249/2025 U/S 3/25 Arms Act. The investigation led to the recovery of a pistol, two magazines, and a toy gun used by the accused to intimidate the public.
Authorities emphasized the seriousness of possessing and displaying firearms unlawfully in public, highlighting the threat it poses to public safety and order.
