Jammu Traffic Police Sub-Inspector Suspended for Misusing Official Vehicle
An incident involving a traffic police sub-inspector in Jammu and Kashmir has sparked controversy and led to his suspension pending an inquiry. The sub-inspector, identified as Gul Sheraz, allegedly misused his official vehicle to shoot a video on the snow-covered Mughal Road in Poonch district. The video, which went viral, showed Sheraz protruding out of the moving vehicle near Peer Ki Gali, raising safety concerns among officials.
The incident has raised serious questions about safety and professional conduct, especially considering the hazardous road and weather conditions in the area. As a result, Sheraz has been relieved of his duties as sector officer (traffic) on Mughal Road and directed to report to the Traffic Police Lines in Rural Jammu. ASI Anil Kumar has been appointed as the new sector officer (traffic) on Mughal Road.
Furthermore, a department inquiry has been initiated by the SSP (traffic, Rural Jammu) to investigate the incident. The inquiry will be conducted by DSP (traffic), Rajouri-Poonch. SSP Farooq Qaiser emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards violations of the Motor Vehicles Act and traffic safety norms, whether committed by civilians or traffic police personnel.
It has been made clear that strict action will be taken against anyone compromising public safety while driving.
